Freshman Richard Wilbur looks through a microscope to discover which phase of mitosis that an onion root is. The purpose of the activity was to help students learn to identify phases of mitosis on real objects. “The microscope helped me be able to see the onion root tip, understand mitosis better, and apply my skills,” Wilbur said.
