CG’s first fall festival is today at the high school from 12:30-2:30 p.m. outside the Hall of Excellence. The event is free for everyone.
“I’m excited to try something new because we haven’t done anything like this before,” spirit chair Addi Siner said.
The event is intended to be a fun community event, where the Homecoming floats for the parade next Friday will be on display. During the festival, participants can pay $1 to vote for their favorite Homecoming float as part of the “People’s Choice Award,” with proceeds going to the Johnson County Boys and Girls Club.
“We just wanted to choose a different charity this year that was focused on kids locally in Johnson County. I’ve heard about the Boys and Girls Club and it’s a perfect match for this event because they’re both catered for kids,” Siner said.
Six clubs will be participating in the event: HOSA, Key Club, BPA, Best Buddies, the Dance team and Guitar Club. Guitar Club will be providing live music while the other clubs host games and crafts for kids.
“We thought the parade was a good alternative and wanted to give clubs an opportunity to participate,” Siner said.
There will also be additional activities including a bouncy castle, chalk the walk and a face painting booth.
