Tonight, the boys and girls swim teams will be hosting the Franklin Central Flashes. Both teams will also be recognizing their seniors for senior night. The boys team will be recognizing Jack Garcia, Max Hite, Isaac Lewis and Adam Schifeling.
In their clash against Franklin Central, Schifeling believes that if the team gives their best effort and focuses on relays, then they will pull out a win.
“As a team for us to win if we need to be swimming hard in our own events,” Schifeling said. “We also need to make sure we are cheering for our teammates when we are not swimming. In the end it is always important for us to cheer hard during the relay events because those matter more.”
Coming into the meet, Schiefling believes that the Trojans will have what it takes to beat Franklin Central. He is confident in his ability to rise to the challenge.
“I feel confident going into this meet,” Schiefling said. “We have been practicing hard all season. We are yet to lose and we know not to relax because of this. Every team will be coming at us as hard as they can so all we can do is rise to the challenge.”
Aside from being a meet, today also marks the team’s senior night. The way senior night works for the boys swim team is by recognizing each senior individually, and after the meet, the team has arranged a special celebration.
“During the break after the 50 freestyle, each senior will walk down the pool deck with their family as they are called out and acknowledged,” Schiefling said. “After the meet, there will be cake and everyone can look at the senior boards.”
After the Trojans race the Flashes, they will only have two more meets until the postseason, which will include the last high school swim meets for all seniors.
“My favorite high school swimming memory is my junior year state meet,” Hite said. “ I got to swim a lot during that meet and I was there with my friends. I was able to celebrate my hard work and cheer for my teammates too.”
