Center Grove first 6A team to win back-to-back state titles

Trojans complete second-straight undefeated season, win 28th game in a row

Seniors James Schott, Caden Curry and Tayven Jackson pose with Coach Eric Moore after receiving their state championship medals and trophy. “It’s the greatest feeling in the world,” Moore said. “I’m so proud of the team and community for their support and really these guys, just staying with it. That’s 28 straight games. That’s history.”

History was made last night when Center Grove clinched its second-straight state title with a 27-21 win over Westfield, a feat never achieved by a team at the 6A level. Center Grove’s back-to-back state titles both capped off undefeated seasons, and last night’s victory was Center Grove’s 28th-straight win.

This was head coach Eric Moore’s seventh trip to the state finals, and his fourth state championship in his 23-year coaching career at Center Grove.
