Sophomore Evan Hartman used lockdown during Covid as a time to learn and develop a new skill: coding. He has since created his own coding company, Node Solutions, where he reverse engineers websites and platforms.
“I originally started by coding websites, but I haven’t coded those in years,” Hartman said. “That’s how I got into it, it was my entry to the niche.”
Starting from scratch, Hartman used online resources to learn the skill and tools needed to code.
“With YouTube videos, I learned the syntax of basic things like Javascript using react and view,” Hartman said. “In the end, I just thought reverse engineering was a good niche. It’s a small niche, but I can be a big person in that niche.”
Hartman took his new passion of coding and decided to make money for his skills. Alongside two other coders, Probabilities and xTekky, Hartman developed Node Solutions where he reverse engineers programs and platforms.
“I post open sourced repositories,” Hartman said. “For example, I did an Instagram AI messenger where it ran on hundreds of thousands of Instagram accounts messaging countless people and sending millions of messages a day. It would be all powered by AI that I created, which is trained on scrapes of conversations for Discord, Telegram, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Now we just send millions of messages, and I open sourced this. A bunch of people came to me saying “can you do this or that”, and I thought I might as well make some money while I’m at it.”
Creating and running Node Solutions has become a great success for Hartman as he serves many companies and individuals from all around.
“The process of setting up the company was fairly simple,” Hartman said. “It was just a multitude of online forms and that was about it. The reason my company does well is that very few people can do what we do, at the scale at which we do, fully unflagged.”
