This Week At CG (7/7 – 7/11)

Brody Drake ’28 celebrates with his teammates on the JV White team after he hits a home run in the bottom of the 3rd inning against Bloomington South. During their game on Tuesday, Drake was the starting pitcher and left Bloomington South to no hits while on the mound. “I played a good game against Bloomington,” Drake said. “One of my successes was hitting a home run. It made me feel that my hard work is paying off.”

Sophomore Subir Thakur works to find a variety of sources to help in his current project in English 10 Honors. He found 15 sources for himself and his group got a total of around 40. “It helps get some of the criticisms for the project. Being in a big library with all these resources is very helpful," Thakur said.
This Week At CG (3/17-3/21)
Center Groves women’s lacrosse team had their first game on Tuesday March 11th. They beat Lawrence North 20-0. Freshman Eliza Dagely played on Varsity this game and will continue to play on varsity for the rest of the season. “The first game made me really excited for the upcoming games.” Said Dagely. “It made me realize how lucky I am to have a team with supporting girls. I'm looking forward for the challenges ahead and can't wait to see how we grow as a team this season.”
This Week At CG (3/10 - 3/14)
During the 7th period of Schoolcraft JCAMP class, sophomore Dylan Herrington controls the robot with the help of a fellow classmate, sophomore Leo Donville. The class had received a donation from an anonymous donor to have a robot in class. “Leo and I were the ones who controlled it because we did the most on getting the robot.” Herrington said. “We read the manual from beginning to the end to know how to control the robot.”
This Week at CG (3/3-3/7)
In Katharine Gaff's fourth period art class, sophomore Violette Schiefelbusch-Moreloc works on drawing a realistic picture. She had to take a picture of something that she wanted to draw and recreate it using colored pencils. “I like this class because it's free,” Schiefelbusch-Moreloc said. “She really does let you get to do what you want and it’s really fun.”
This Week at CG (2/24-2/28)
"Showing On Senior Sarah Hendrix performs in front of a crowd during halftime at a Boys Varsity Basketball game vs. Mooresville on Feburary 18, as part of a ancestral team routine. The dance team performed as part of a two-event halftime show that night, immediately before the Best Buddies basketball game. “It feels a little nerve-wracking, but you also know that everyone there is a CG fan,” Hendrix said. “It’s also just fun getting to perform for others because they don’t really get to see our competition dances.”"
This Week At CG (2/17-2/21)
In Danielle Myers AP Biology class, juniors Allison Hopkins and Audrey Johnston place their gel electrophoresis trays onto a transilluminator to examine and photograph the stained gel of lambda DNA. The lab has allowed students to be able to look at DNA fragments and how these fragments cut themselves during gel electrophoresis to base-pair size. "I learned how to stain and rinse gels to look at lambda DNA and measure its migration distance for our Restriction Enzyme Lab," Hopkins said. "It was interesting to see the relationship between the molecular weight of DNA fragments and its mobility on the gels."
