Juniors J Stout and Austin Petkovich create a poster in medical interventions. In Mr. Bishops tenth period class, students worked on their poster where they chose the topics of conjugation, transduction or transformation. “Currently, we are learning about bacterial conjugation, which is the transfer of DNA from one bacteria to another," Petkovich said. "We did a lab these past few classes to see what this looks like physically in a lab setting."

"Emmy Award-winning sports director Anthony Calhoun nominated Center Grove as one of the Top 10 “Best Student Section” in Indiana this past week. Junior Charlie Rolfsen has been working to bring awareness to these football games in order to create a larger student section. “I think that waving the flag should most definitely boost the amount of students attending the football games. It is not talked about enough around the school, and some kids have no idea when the game is or that there even is a game. I hope my flag can bring awareness to our sports team.” Every Friday, whether its home or away, Rolfsen is outside Door 9 making sure every student is aware there is a game that evening. “I love watching our schools football program, and I want everyone there to support them. It helps so much to have a whole section of peers rooting you on, and the team puts to much work into their to go unnoticed.”

In celebration of the start of senior year, the class of 2026 hosted the Senior Sunrise this morning on the football field with Chick-fil-a, donuts and coffee. Senior Ella Horvath attended and was able to celebrate senior year with friends. “I loved getting together with my friends to watch the sunrise and take some cute pictures,” Horvath said. “I loved how many people showed and the the sunrise was so beautiful too. It was such a good start to the morning to experience Gods amazing creations with amazing people.”

In Mr. Fry’s Ceramics class, senior Mackenzie Nuttle works on her shown coil sculpture pot. Students worked on creating three bases for their sculptures; a pinch pot, a slab with rounded edges, and a rolled up coil that makes a circle. “This was our first big project that we have done,” Nuttle said. “I really enjoyed the challenge of it though because it helped me learn how to piece different structures together.”

Senior Ali Hopkins chats with senior Ashley Line as they exit the school during the August fire drill. The fire drill occurred during STaR on Friday, just one week after CGHS conducted a July fire drill in order to be in compliance with state law. “I don’t like how frequently we have to do fire drills, but I’m glad we have measures in place to keep students safe in case of an emergency,” Hopkins said.

Senior Max Hite collects a moss sample outside for microbiology class. The students collected the samples to observe them under a microscope to see what they can find. "We're collecting and studying moss, lichen, and pond water samples, to wrap up our bacteria and fungi unit, and then we're going to see if we can find tardigrades and other microorganisms," Hite said.

During the Tuesday morning STUCO meeting, junior Ivy McClimon writes thank you cards to teachers for Teacher Appreciation week. Each year in May, the FacStud committee in STUCO organizes ways to show CG teachers how much they are valued. “Doing stuff to show teachers appreciation is a really important part of STUCO,” McClimon said. “They do so much for the school, so getting to do stuff like writing cards and making goody bags helps us show our thankfulness for them.”

Junior Hallie Bennett reads about the Harlem Reinaissance. Bennett explains the importance of learning about this time period in America. “This is a very important time period in America and we can all learn something from it,” Bennett continues, “I think this is a very important topic that is covered.”
This Week at CG (4/21-4/25)
Sophomore Kylie Perry prepares for opening night of the school’s spring play, Radium Girls. The makeup prior to performing took some cast members forty-five minutes to an hour to do. “You need to exaggerate the details otherwise the audience won’t see it, and you take a darker shade into consideration since the lights are so bright.” Perry said.
This Week At CG (4/14-4/18)
Brody Drake '28 celebrates with his teammates on the JV White team after he hits a home run in the bottom of the 3rd inning against Bloomington South. During their game on Tuesday, Drake was the starting pitcher and left Bloomington South to no hits while on the mound. "I played a good game against Bloomington," Drake said. "One of my successes was hitting a home run. It made me feel that my hard work is paying off."
This Week At CG (4/7 - 4/11)
Sophomore Subir Thakur works to find a variety of sources to help in his current project in English 10 Honors. He found 15 sources for himself and his group got a total of around 40. “It helps get some of the criticisms for the project. Being in a big library with all these resources is very helpful," Thakur said.
