Writing down a math equation in the hallway during her Algebra 1 class, Aniyah Forbes ‘29 solves to complete her math review station. Students completed this review activity in the hallway, which focused on solving an equation which would guide them to a different station based on their previous answer. “”I like stations because it is less stressful, helps me understand more, and I can try to learn it again with my teacher being there to help me," Forbes said.

Making mowing money

Juniors J Stout and Austin Petkovich create a poster in medical interventions. In Mr. Bishops tenth period class, students worked on their poster where they chose the topics of conjugation, transduction or transformation. “Currently, we are learning about bacterial conjugation, which is the transfer of DNA from one bacteria to another," Petkovich said. "We did a lab these past few classes to see what this looks like physically in a lab setting."
This Week At CG (9/15-9/19)
"Emmy Award-winning sports director Anthony Calhoun nominated Center Grove as one of the Top 10 “Best Student Section” in Indiana this past week. Junior Charlie Rolfsen has been working to bring awareness to these football games in order to create a larger student section. “I think that waving the flag should most definitely boost the amount of students attending the football games. It is not talked about enough around the school, and some kids have no idea when the game is or that there even is a game. I hope my flag can bring awareness to our sports team.” Every Friday, whether its home or away, Rolfsen is outside Door 9 making sure every student is aware there is a game that evening. “I love watching our schools football program, and I want everyone there to support them. It helps so much to have a whole section of peers rooting you on, and the team puts to much work into their to go unnoticed.”

In celebration of the start of senior year, the class of 2026 hosted the Senior Sunrise this morning on the football field with Chick-fil-a, donuts and coffee. Senior Ella Horvath attended and was able to celebrate senior year with friends. “I loved getting together with my friends to watch the sunrise and take some cute pictures,” Horvath said. “I loved how many people showed and the the sunrise was so beautiful too. It was such a good start to the morning to experience Gods amazing creations with amazing people.”

In Mr. Fry’s Ceramics class, senior Mackenzie Nuttle works on her shown coil sculpture pot. Students worked on creating three bases for their sculptures; a pinch pot, a slab with rounded edges, and a rolled up coil that makes a circle. “This was our first big project that we have done,” Nuttle said. “I really enjoyed the challenge of it though because it helped me learn how to piece different structures together.”

Senior Ali Hopkins chats with senior Ashley Line as they exit the school during the August fire drill. The fire drill occurred during STaR on Friday, just one week after CGHS conducted a July fire drill in order to be in compliance with state law. “I don’t like how frequently we have to do fire drills, but I’m glad we have measures in place to keep students safe in case of an emergency,” Hopkins said.
