HOSA students return from annual conference

HOSA students were awarded six gold, six silver and three bronze medals as part of their conference. Junior Sophia Kroll was elected Indiana’s State Leadership Historian during the conference as well.

This week, Center Grove HOSA students competed in their State Competition, where they received top 10 honors in 56 different competitive events. Center Grove accumulated six gold state champion medals, six silver runners-up medals and three bronze medals, while sophomore Layna Tzaferis was given the Barbara James Silver Award for acquiring 175 service hours. This competition also saw junior Sophia Kroll being elected as Indiana’s State Leadership Historian.

 

Listed below are the students who earned medals at the competition:

 

Senior Gowthamm Mandala placed first in his Health Care Issues Exam and in Medical Terms.

Senior Evan Dunkle placed first in Allied Health Statistics.

Sophomore Layna Tzaferis placed first in Job Seeking Skills and Family Medicine Physician.

Junior Meghna Pillai placed first in Medical Assisting. Pillai also placed second in Leadership and third in Dental terminology.

Junior Miru Wang placed second in Career Development and Cultural Diversities and Disparities. Wang also placed third in Allied Health Statistics.

Seniors Will Eberhart and Alec Gardner placed second in Forensic Medicine.

Sophomore Zoë Carpenter placed second in Research Persuasive Writing and Speaking.

Senior Eliza LaFavers, senior Allee Dieterle, junior Ava Mardis and junior Jaylyn Coffey placed second in Medical Innovations.

Junior Elise Armstrong placed third in Clinical Laboratory.
