Future Problem Solvers, a club founded by sophomore Mahek Agrawal, offers unique opportunities for students to develop problem-solving and higher level thinking skills.

“Future Problem Solvers is a club where we solve problems relating to the world. All of it is set in the future, so we’re not actually solving today’s world problems,” Agrawal said. “It’s fun, light-hearted, interesting and looks great on college applications.”

The new club is a welcome addition for students this school year, and Agrawal was eager to start it at CGHS.

“We had this club at my old school and I thought it would be a great opportunity for Center Grove to have it here,” Agrawal said.

Using her own previous experience, Agrawal hopes to lead the club in a positive direction. Though it is new, there are high expectations for FPS this year.

“My goal for this year is to get to state as a team. I’ve done it every year since fourth grade but haven’t been able to compete in a team for two years, so I’m really excited for this year,” Agrawal said.

Despite all of the benefits of Future Problem Solvers, starting up the club did pose some challenges including finding sponsors. “It took a really long time but I finally found two great sponsors: Mrs. Shackleford and Mrs. White,” Agrawal said.

The sponsors and Agrawal are looking for more students to join.

“Anybody can join at any time!” Agrawal said.

Future Problem Solvers will meet twice a month on Wednesdays after school in teacher Holly White’s room 296.
