What got you interested in flying?
“My interest in flying comes from my family. My dad worked as a mechanic for Delta, and my grandpa worked restocking and cleaning planes. Seeing how much they enjoyed their jobs inspired me to follow a similar path in aviation.”
What is the training process at C9 to get your license?
“I have been working with C9 for about a year. The process starts with a one-year ground course with Mr. Edwards, where you learn the basics and fundamentals of flying. After that, you take the written test. Then, training continues at an airport, where you gain experience through flying, simulators, and additional ground school. I also participate in an internship, which helps lower costs and gives me hands-on experience working with different pilots and mechanics.”
How close are you to getting your license?
“I have completed additional online training and simulator practice. I passed my written test and have completed about 8 hours of flight time so far, so I still have a ways to go to reach the required hours.”
Have you flown any planes yet? If so, what was your experience?
“Yes, I have flown in a plane before. My favorite experience was flying in a Piper Seneca with my boss and his friends. One of the biggest challenges has been finding good weather for training. After completing my written test, I’ve had to wait for suitable conditions instead of dealing with heavy winds and snow.”
Do you want to go to college for flight?
“Yes, I plan to attend ISU or VU to earn a college degree. This will help me complete my required flight hours and gain the certifications and ratings needed for a career in aviation.”
Do you want to be a pilot when you are older? If so, why?
“Yes, I want to become a pilot so I can travel and create more opportunities for my future. I would like to fly cargo for companies like Amazon or FedEx.”
