How did you start collecting vinyls?
“I started collecting vinyls because my best friend did it, and I was fascinated by the fact that a single needle can just feel the groove and play music. I also love music, and I was in a band for a while, so I am very passionate about music.”
What does listening to vinyls give you that listening on Apple Music or Spotify doesn’t?
“Something that listening to vinyls gives me that an app doesn’t is that I am able to fully immerse myself in the music. I am able to have physical proof of my love for the artist, I can just be in my room and focus on the music. It is a way for me to relax. It’s a way for me to connect with my friends. I also love having physical proof of my love for an artist.”
Do you remember the first vinyl you got?
“My first vinyls I got were for Christmas and it was when we all fall asleep where do we go, happier than ever, and don’t smile at me, all by Billie Eilish. They were meaningful to me because they were the first records I listened to at my friends house, and they are also my top favorite albums.”
Where do you normally find your records?
“I normally find my popular records at well known stores, like Target. I also found them at a record store by Ella’s Frozen Yogurt called “Vinal Rescue Project.” I have also gotten some from artists’ websites.”
Are there any specific records you’re especially proud of or owning?
“There are two records that I am proud to own. One of them is “Ocean Eyes.” It is a 7-inch record. I am also proud that I own the red record of “Don’t Smile at Me,” because it is less common. I also have some very cool pressings that are multi-colored.”
What makes collecting records special to you?
“What makes collecting records special to me is that it’s a way for me to connect with my friends. I also love having physical proof of my love for an artist.”
