If you happen to be one of the rare students not traveling over Spring Break, there are still a lot of places to visit for some fun. Staying home doesn’t have to mean staying bored, and the Center Grove area offers plenty of fun ways to fill your days, whether you want to get out with friends or just escape your house for a few hours. From nostalgic entertainment spots to newer community hangouts, consider visiting these local destinations during your break.
Artcraft Theater
The Artcraft Theater is a staple of the Bargersville community. Opened in 1922, the theater has been showing movies, hosting author events and participating in other community events for more than a century. Over break, movies being shown include Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Black Orpheus, Cool Runnings, and Stripes, giving you a mix of classics and cult favorites. If movies aren’t your thing, the Artcraft is also hosting Bingo Night and a Yacht Rock night, so there’s still plenty to do.
Otte Golf & Family Fun Center
If you happen to enjoy golfing, Otte is the perfect place to spend your time this Spring Break. The business features a large mini golf course, a full driving range and batting cages, making it a solid option even if you’re not a serious golfer. Whether you want to work on your swing or just compete with friends, there’s enough to keep you entertained for hours. It’s especially nice on a warm afternoon when being outside actually sounds appealing. Overall, Otte is a low-stress, dynamic option that works for almost any group.
UPaint Pottery
It’s no secret that UPaint Pottery is one of the most popular local businesses. Located right off of West Smith Valley Road, UPaint is the perfect place to exercise your creativity, offering over 50 types of pottery in addition to seasonal plates and vases. The atmosphere is calm, creative and perfect for catching up with friends while doing something hands-on. If you find yourself bored on a Tuesday afternoon, consider calling up a friend and making your way to the studio.
Rascal’s Fun Zone
Rascal’s has been the venue for many childhood birthday parties and afternoons spent with family, and for good reason. The activity center offers laser tag, go-karts, arcade games, mini golf and bumper cars all in one place. Whether you’re feeling competitive or just want to relive some childhood nostalgia, there’s plenty to keep you busy. Especially if the weather outside is bad, the chaotic energy of Rascal’s is a reliable go-to.
Kephart Park
Kephart Park is the perfect place to go if you are looking to do something fun but aren’t looking to spend money. Opened in 2023, it has quickly become a popular spot in the Greenwood community. The park features basketball courts, pickleball courts, a playground, open green space and a splash pad for when the weather warms up. If you just need some fresh air and a change of scenery, Kephart is the perfect community location to spend your time.
